Daniel Quasar

Daniel Quasar (they/them) is a non‑binary artist, musician, and graphic designer who introduced in 2018 the Progress Pride flag based on Gilbert Baker’s original rainbow design To honor groups that are often overlooked, Quasar added a forward‑pointing chevron of light blue, light pink, and white for transgender communities, and brown and black to represent LGBTQIA+ people of color and those living with or lost to HIV/AIDS. Quasar used crowdsourcing to fund the initial production of the flags, and the design quickly was recognized throughout the world.  It is now a copyrighted artwork with specific reproduction/use guidelines. Based in Portland and trained in digital design, Quasar works across multiple creative disciplines. Their impressive portfolio includes contributions to RuPaul’s Drag Race–related projects and work for Playstation and DC Comics.  Quasar continues to push the boundaries within which LGBTQIA+ identity, activism, and art flourish.
