Jack Andraka (1997 - )

At age 15 following the death of a family friend from pancreatic cancer, child prodigy/global health engineer/anthropoligist Jack Andraka developed a paper test for the disease. Andraka now holds multiple degrees from Stanford University and a patent for his inexpensive dipstick-like sensor for rapid detection of pancreatic, ovarian and lung cancers. His memoir “Breakthrough” recounts his struggles as a gay person with bullying and discrimination and he continues his scientific work, while being a worldwide activist for accessible STEM education and creativity and innovation.
