Valentino Vecchietti

Valentino Vecchietti (she/they) is a pioneering British activist/writer/artist, whose work has reshaped global LGBTQIA+ visibility. In 2021, she redesigned, Dan Quasar’s Progress Pride Flag to include the yellow field and purple circle of the intersex flag, creating the now‑iconic Intersex‑Inclusive Pride Flag. Their design went viral and has since been adopted as the most inclusive representation of the LGBTQIA+ community. “Intersex” refers to natural variations in sex characteristics including chromosomes, hormones and external and internal anatomy that do not fit typical definitions of “male” or “female.” As founder of Intersex Equality Rights UK, Vecchietti’s work champions and expands our understanding of the full breadth of human diversity.  On Flag Day, their flag, writing, and public leadership remind us that intersex people belong fully within the LGBTQIA+ community and that every identity, body and story deserves respect and happiness.
